Dynabrade Random Orbital Sanders

Today in the Abrasives-Sandpaper Blog we are looking at the air powered Dynabrade Dynorbital Random Orbital Sander Series – their orbit patterns and their features.

Both the spinning of the sanding disc and the movement of the disc in an elliptical pattern ensure that no single part of the abrasive material moves in the same path twice, producing a random orbital motion. This unique sanding action is designed so that there are no perceivable swirl marks on the work surface. The diagram below illustrates the diameter orbit patterns and usage recommendations. All of the Dynabrade Dynorbitals are available in your choice of 3/8”, 3/16” or 3/32” diameter orbits. There is an aggressive 3/8” orbit, a 3/16” orbit for general sanding and a 3/32” orbit that is recommended for fine sanding in light to medium applications.

The D3 Random Orbital Sander series is comprised of:
  1. The Dynabrade Dynorbital Supreme
  2. The Dynabrade Dynorbital Silver Supreme and
  3. The Dynabrade Dynorbital Spirit.
1. The Dynabrade Dynorbital Supreme 56815  is a cornerstone of the orbital sander series. It features the highest RPM in the industry while working on a work surface. The Dynabrade Dynorbital Supreme line features a perfectly balanced low profile, premium urethane weight-mated sanding pad for both smoother operator performance and minimum vibration. This line of random orbital sanders features a refined ergonomic tool grip to reduce fatigue and increase efficiency with a more comfortable grip.

2. The Dynabrade Silver Supreme is the newest member in the Dynabrade Random Orbital Sander family. The Dynabrade Silver Supreme 69020 Non-Vacuum Random Orbital Sander is a favorite in this line. The Dynorbital Silver Supreme features all steel components including a steel cylinder and end plates to maximize motor performance. These random orbital sanders have a perfectly balanced weight-mated sanding pad for smoother performance and minimal vibration.

3. The Dynabrade Dynorbital-Spirit Random Orbital series is lightest tool in the series and is ideal for vertical and contoured applications.  The Spirit series features a compact grip size - a reduction of 5% from other models in the series for operators with smaller hands. The Dynorbital-Spirit models feature the perfectly balanced weight-mated sanding pad for smoother performance and minimal vibration. The Dynabrade Dynorbital-Spirit 59020 Non-Vacuum sander is a good choice.

So in review, if you need...
…a random orbital sander for heavy aggressive sanding the Dynorbital Supreme would be recommended.
…a random orbital sander for general application the Dynorbital Silver would be recommended.
…a random orbital sander for vertical or contoured sanding applications the Dynorbital Spirit would be recommended.

All of these Dynabrade Dynorbitals are available with a pad diameter of 3 inch, 5 inch or 6 inch depending on the surface you need to sand. All Dynabrade Dynorbitals are available in Non-Vacuum, Self-Generated or Central Vacuum models.

Aluminum oxide sanding belts can be used on all metals and both hard and soft woods. Standard grade aluminum oxide belts have an x-weight backing and are used as a general purpose approach to sanding wood and sanding metal. Premium grade aluminum oxide abrasive sanding belts have a y-weight, poly-cotton backing . More grain and a heavier backing on the premium sanding belt results in a better finish and longer life. Open coat, poly-cotton aluminum oxide sanding belts are also available and have a specially coated backing which provides high performance for washable sanding belts. This coated abrasive sanding belt is great for hard and soft woods and soft metals. Wider grain placement helps the belt in loading applications. Aluminum oxide sanding belts are also available in a flexible, j-weight are backed with 100% Egyptian cotton, which allows the belt to last longer. The flexibility facilitates sanding on most contour surfaces. This premium, heat treated abrasive grain allows sharper cutting and more consistent finishes. These sanding belts are great on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, hard woods, and plastics. Aluminum oxide j-weight plus sanding belts are also made with 100% Egyptian cotton backing and have a grinding aid that not only cools, but acts as an anti-clogging agent. J-flex sanding belts will conform to highly contoured surfaces and provide superior finishing and polishing. These abrasive sanding belts are excellent for finishing chrome, stainless steel, brass, titanium, bronze and hard woods.

Silicon carbide wet or dry Y-weight polyester sanding belts are designed for the heavy duty, aggressive grinding applications. Silicon carbide sanding belts are 100% waterproof and are sharp cutting. These abrasive sanding belts are used for grinding and sanding on non-ferrous metals, marble, plastic, glass, rubber and fiberglass.

Zirconia alumina sanding belts are resin bonded and closed coated. They are aggressive and self sharpening. This sanding belt is excellent on stainless and other tough metals. Zirconia alumina plus sanding belts have a grinding aid for a cooler cut and faster stock removal on stainless steel. They are resin bonded and closed coated. They are aggressive and self sharpening while grinding and sanding. Zirconia alumina sanding belts are excellent on stainless and other tough metals.

Ceramic grain sanding belts are also resin bonded and closed coated. This belt outlasts both aluminum oxide and zirconia alumina belts while cutting faster and cooler. This sanding belt is best suited for grinding and sanding stainless and other tough metals.
